Pediatric Dentistry, a first visit that builds lasting trust
Your child's relationship with the dentist is shaped by the very first visit, which is why we design it with care. At Avyla Clinics in Nasr City, the pediatric dentist spends that first session getting acquainted, explaining and playing before any procedure, showing your child the instruments and naming them simply, and starting nothing until they're ready. Our main focus is prevention: fluoride, sealants and regular checkups that make treatment itself rare.

How we work with your child
- 01
A get-to-know visit before any treatment
The first visit usually involves no procedure at all: your child sits in the chair, sees and touches the instruments, and we explain everything in simple language. The goal is for them to leave smiling even if we did nothing, because this visit sets the tone for every one that follows.
- 02
A gentle, complete examination
We check the baby and emerging permanent teeth, the gums and the way the jaws meet, and catch early decay before it reaches the nerve. We use imaging only when genuinely needed, at the lowest possible dose.
- 03
Prevention first
A fluoride application to strengthen the enamel, and sealants on the back molars where most decay begins, two quick, painless steps that spare your child far bigger treatment later.
- 04
Treatment when needed, calmly
If a filling is needed, we explain it in your child's own words and use a topical numbing gel before any injection. We work in short sessions and stop the moment they tire, a comfortable child cooperates far better next time.
What sets us apart
Full treatment under general anaesthesia, for children who cannot sit through it
Some children, whether from fear, special needs, or the sheer amount of treatment required, find it very difficult to sit in a dental chair. Your child's emotional and physical safety is our paramount concern, which is why we are one of the few clinics offering comprehensive dental treatment under general anaesthesia in a safe, controlled hospital setting.
Everything in one visit
Fillings, extractions and anything else needed are done in one single, stress-free visit while your child is comfortably asleep and monitored by a specialist anaesthesiologist. They wake up with a healthy mouth and no memory of the procedure.
Lighter sedation in the clinic
For children with milder anxiety we offer lighter sedation options in the clinic itself, without needing general anaesthesia at all.
Prevention before treatment
Our focus is stopping problems before they start: gentle check-ups and cleanings, fluoride treatments to strengthen enamel, and sealants to seal decay out of the grooves of molar teeth, alongside guidance on diet and brushing.
Experience with children before instruments
Working with children is a skill in its own right, no less important than clinical skill. At Avyla, children's cases are handled by dentists practised in behaviour-guidance and trust-building, in a quiet environment away from the noise of a conventional clinic, with instruments sized for children's mouths, and full sterilization protocols at every step.

Frequently asked questions
What age should the first visit be?
The international recommendation is a first visit when the first tooth appears, or before the first birthday, which surprises many parents. At that age the aim isn't treatment but familiarising your child with the place and teaching you the right cleaning technique. If your child is past that age and hasn't been seen yet, the right time is now, there's no age that's too late to start.
How do you handle a frightened child?
With patience, not force. We start with a visit that involves no procedure at all, and use a tell-show-do approach: describe the step in simple words, show the instrument on their hand or on a toy, then begin. Sometimes it takes two or three visits before a full examination, an investment well worth making. For the small number of children whose anxiety prevents any cooperation, we'll discuss safe sedation options with you.
Baby teeth fall out anyway, are they worth treating?
Yes, very much so. A baby tooth holds the space for the permanent tooth beneath it; losing it early lets the neighbouring teeth drift in and close that gap, so the permanent tooth erupts crowded or trapped and needs orthodontics later. Decay in a baby tooth also causes your child real pain, affects eating and sleep, and infection can reach the permanent tooth bud. Treating early is simpler, cheaper and far less distressing.
Is fluoride safe for my child?
Yes, at the right dose and applied the right way. In-clinic fluoride is applied topically to the tooth surface and isn't swallowed, and it's among the most studied and best-evidenced preventive measures in dentistry. The dose is calculated for your child's age and weight, and we'll also talk through the right amount of toothpaste for home use at their age.
What if my child needs a filling?
We explain what will happen in simple words with no frightening vocabulary, and use a topical numbing gel before any injection so the needle isn't felt. Children's fillings are tooth-coloured and entirely safe, and the session is short by design. If several teeth need work, we spread them across short visits rather than one long appointment that exhausts your child.
